This feature is available as an account feature upgrade, for those wishing for a richly dynamic photo gallery feature that will allow self-maintenence of their own site.
Since this is a
self-maintainable module (meaning something you the user will maintain), you should have some of the following characteristics
if you are considering having BigTime adding and integrating this feature
to your domain:
|
- You should be comfortable with computers in general with an intermediate level of computing experience.
- You should be resourceful and be able to find and refer to simple help files to solve your problems independently

Search Tools is a search engine that you install on your own site. Visitors to your site use it to find files on your site or on a small cluster of sites outside your own that you define. The search box at the top of this page is an example of how it is typically used.
SearchTools is different than Google or Altavista, which search the entire Internet. SearchTools only searches the sites that you tell it to. It can handle about 10,000 documents in all, which is plenty for one site but much fewer than the total number of documents on the Internet.
Search Tools is smaller than Google or Altavista, but it is qualitatively identical to them. It has its own built-in web robot for retreiving files, which means it is not limited to searching only documents on its own server. It builds its own index files and returns results from them, unlike some "meta-search" scripts which make behind-the-scenes requests to major search engines to gather results.
Search Tools runs entirely on your server, so visitors aren't redirected to a separate centralized server to get their results.
Search Tools is a flat search engine - it accepts keywords and shows a ranked list of search results. It does not organize pages into browsable categories and subcategories like Yahoo does.
Our Search Tools Add-On Module is powered by Fluid Dynamics.

There are essentially 2 parts to Search Tools. The Public interface and the Admin interface.
The Public interface is what your visitors will see, while the Admin interface is where you do all of your work behind the scenes
telling the engine what to include.
Public Search Interface
The public interface can be customized quite a bit. All of the HTML is template-based and can be easily changed to match your site's layout.
In addition, there are tons of different search options that you can enable for your visitors, like result sorting, keyword highlighting, synonym matching, and context matching.
Web-Based Admin Interface
The admin interface is a secure area where you can define sets of documents to be searched (known as "realms"). You can then build the indexes for those realms, and also rebuild the indexes when the content changes.
The built in robot will go out and crawl the page you desire to index. When it recognizes any links on the page it will make note of it and add it to a list of possibilities to also index. You have a choice to add those or not.
The Search Tools is completely customizable and will only index and display the pages that you allow it to.

There is a one time set up fee charge of $150 for this feature to be integrated within your domain.
There is a slightly higher fee if you wish to support more than one 'realm'. This is the software company, not me. The version we offer here is freeware
and will only support your site. If you wish to include other sites, we'll need to buy the pro version for you which is currently $40.
In addition there may be a change in your hosting tier package, depending on what package you currently have.
You will be provided a detailed help file when you sign up for this feature.
This file will explain basic usage. Support is always available, but
advanced support will be credited towards your pre-paid package of hours.
If you would like more information on this feature and the feasibility within your own domain,
please contact us.
All Add-On Modules offered by BigTime are available to hosting clients only and are fully supported by us.
